The former child star, who led in the 2000-06 Fox sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, was slurring his speech and acting odd enough for his friends to hospitalize him, according to TMZ. Doctors diagnosed the incident as having stemmed from a mini stroke, the lay term for a transient ischemic attack. In a TIA, blood flow is cut off to part of the brain for a period of time, up to a day and sometimes for an hour or two.

Muniz tweeted on Tuesday: "I was in the hospital last Friday. I suffered a 'Mini Stroke', which was not fun at all. Have to start taking care of my body! Getting old!" 

Muniz, who turns 27 on Wednesday and also starred in the Agent Cody Banks film series, has acted less in recent years, trading in his onscreen time for a career as an open-wheel race car driver and a drummer for the band Kingsfoil. He recently had a guest spot on ABC's Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23.
