'Grey's,' 'Practice' hit highest ratings in weeks
UPDATED: Sweeps-fueled episodes of "Private Practice," "CSI" and "Grey's Anatomy" drove the Thursday hits to some of their best numbers in weeks.
ABC won the night, starting with its only show that did not improve -- "FlashForward" (8.3 million viewers, 2.6 adults 18-49 rating). "Grey's Anatomy" (14.9 million, 5.6) welcomed the addition of Kim Raver to the cast and return of Katherine Heigl to Seattle Grace, climbing 6% to its best rating in six weeks. "Private Practice" (10.3 million, 3.9) was up even higher, 15%, to its strongest rating since its premiere (though this does contain a minute of "Grey's" overrun).
CBS was second in the adult demo, though won among total viewers. "Survivor: Samoa (12.9 million, 4.0) went up 8% and the final crossover episode of "CSI" (17.4 million, 4.1) jumped 17%, with both shows hitting their second-highest ratings of the season and setting new season highs among whole audience. While 10 p.m.'s "The Mentalist" (16.2 million, 3.6) was flat.
Fox edged out NBC for third, with "Bones" (10.2 million, 2.9) up 12% from its last original episode and beating "FlashForward" in the hour for the first time. "Fringe" (5.9 million, 2.2) climbed 29% from its prior series-low outing.
NBC's "Community" (5.1 million, 2.1) was down 9% and "Parks and Recreation" (4.6 million, 2.1) fell 5%, with "The Office" (8.1 million, 4.2) and "30 Rock" (6 million, 3.0) on par. "The Jay Leno Show" (4.8 million, 1.6) was flat.
On the CW, "Vampire Diaries" (4.1 million, 1.9) continues to hold up well, with "Supernatural" (2.7 million, 1.3) improving a bit this week.
