'CSI', 'Gossip' up for sweeps stunts; 'Heroes' sinks
UPDATE: In the nationals, the story was pretty much the same, though "House" got richer, up to a 5.3, and "Gossip Girl" and "One Tree" gained a tenth and gave the CW its most-watched Monday of the season.
PREVIOUS: Finally there's some bona fide network sweeps stunts on the air with Monday's high-profile "Gossip Girl" crossover episode and a steamy threesome on "CSI" ... (wait, switch those). Both dramas posted some gains on last week, though neither show was unusually strong.
Night 1 of the "CSI Trilogy Crossover" had "CSI: Miami" (13.8 million viewers, 4.0 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) up 11%. CW's "Gossip Girl" (2.3 million, 1.2) ménage-a-Monday climbed 20% (though didn't seem to impress many fans).
Over on NBC, the oft-beleaguered "Heroes" (5.3 million, 2.3) sunk 8% to a series low.
Fox won the night with "House" (12.8 million, 5.1) and "Lie to Me" (7.5 million, 3.0) returning from baseball pre-emptions and looking healthier for the break. "House" was up 13% and was the night's highest-rated show and "Lie to Me" climbed 25%.
In second, CBS aired its comedy line-up, with "How I Met Your Mother" (9 million, 3.5), "Accidentally on Purpose" (8.2 million, 3.0) and "Two and a Half Men" (14.1 million, 4.4) all within a tenth of last week and "Big Bang Theory" (12.4 million, 4.5) slipped a couple tenths.
ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" (17.7 million, 3.5) and "Castle" (10.7 million, 2.5) were on par.
After "Heroes," NBC aired "Trauma" (5.4 million, 1.8) and a series-low-matching "Jay Leno Show" (4 million, 1.2). The CW also had "One Tree Hill" (2.7 million, 1.2).
