'Glee' DVD to be released midseason

Glee6 20th Century Fox is so excited to get "Glee" onto DVD that it will release the Fox show on home video months before its season finale.

“'Glee' Season 1: Road To Sectionals" will be in stores Dec. 29 and will contain the first 13 episodes of the show, which has been picked up for a full 22-episode season.

Guess “'Glee' Season 1: Road Back From the Sectionals" will be released in May?

Studios have doubled dipped on a popular TV show's season for a DVD release before. Syfy famously annoyed budget-conscious fans by releasing split seasons of "Battlestar Galactica" as, for example, season "2.0" and "2.5" (but in that case, the halves of each season also aired months apart).

You can also see the promotional argument here -- let's give would-be fans an easy way to catch up before the show returns.

Release will also include the so-called director's cut of the pilot, behind-the-scenes featurettes and audition videos from the cast.
