A&E orders Jackson family reality series
UPDATED: A&E is moving forward with a Jackson family reality series.
The network confirms it will produce a new series with the Jackson brothers in the wake of Michael's death.
The series' working title is "Jackson Family Dynasty." A&E's original one-hour documentary -- shot before the singer died -- will serve as the show's first episode.
A&E plans to launch the series this year, possibly fairly soon. The issue has been trying to find a time that seems appropriate given all the ongoing drama surrounding Jackson's death.
Executive producer Jodi Gomes of Point 7 Entertainment said the series will show the brothers dealing with matters related to the King of Pop's passing and issues in their own lives.
"Everybody wants to do a show that's very genuine," Gomes said. "They're not shy about talking about their brother, they just want to find it a way to do it honestly."
Also, some footage from the network's original documentary on the Jackson family -- shot before the singer died -- has been leaked to Entertainment Tonight. The news outlet plans to air the footage this evening.
Roger Friedman broke A&E's plans to do a Jackson reality series on his Showbiz 411 blog last week. The content of the leaked footage prompted A&E to break its silence on its series plans today. A&E still intends to air its full one-hour documentary at a later date.
