Wimbledon ratings strong, but can't topple '08
NBC's Wimbledon coverage Sunday was the second most-watched men's final in nine years, though couldn’t top 2008's record-setting match.
Roger Federer had a five-set victory over Andy Roddick and drew a 4.2 household rating among local metered markets.
That's down 9% from last year, when Rafael Nadal overthrew Federer, then a five-time defending champ.
Last year's match is considered one of the all-time greatest and set the bar high for a repeat.
Still, enthusiasm across the pond was enough for the BBC to score its biggest Wimbledon viewership in five years, with more 11 million viewers.
