'Spartacus' panel TMI
Everything is big in Starz's "Spartacus: Blood and Sand." The muscular gladiators, the Roman Coliseum, the over-the-top violent action and even the ... um ... yeah.
“Some guys aren’t as well-endowed as other guys,” explained executive producer Steven DeKnight. "We had to create 'the Kirk Douglas,’ so it was aptly named. It was a prosthetic the guys could wear to feel more comfortable.”
Well, at least producers aren't using CGI to keep their actors "comfortable." That would be creepy (not to mention a tempting opportunity for mischief by the production's computer animators).
DeKnight then explained actors will actually have to share the prosthetic. Which means viewers might end up seeing the same exaggerated member on more than one character.
There is definitely an "I'm Spartacus!" joke to be made here.
Co-star Lucy Lawless added that she gets naked as well (presumably without a prosthetic), but doesn't appear entirely in the buff.
