NBC schedules 'Mercy'

With "Parenthood" pushed to midseason, NBC has announced a launch date for hospital drama "Mercy."

The show will debut Sept. 23, right in the usual broadcast premiere week. "Parenthood" was pushed due to co-star Maura Tierney learning she had a breast tumor.

By moving up "Mercy," it means NBC will have the tricky task of promoting two new medical dramas during the fall -- the other is Monday's "Trauma." Those will also compete with CBS' new medical drama, Sunday night's "Three Rivers," along with the return of Thursday's "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice" on ABC.

Fall broadcast schedule.
