FX greenlights new animated comedy (video)
FX has greenlighted a new animated comedy series. Tentatively titled "Archer," the series from Adam Reed has received a six-episode order for a launch this fall (clip below).
Set at ISIS, an international spy agency where global crises are merely opportunities for its highly trained employees to confuse, undermine, betray and royally screw each other, "Archer" features the voices of Jon Benjamin as suave master spy Sterling Archer, whose less-than-masculine code name is "Duchess"; Jessica Walter as Malory, his domineering mother and boss; Aisha Tyler as his ex-girlfriend Agent Lana Kane; Chris Parnell as ISIS comptroller and Lana's new love interest Cyril Figgis; and Judy Greer as Malory's lovesick secretary Cheryl.
"This project has been a great surprise for us," said Nick Grad, FX's executive vp original programming. "It is a smart, adult comedy, and the characters are given voice by a terrific cast. It clearly fits the FX brand, and we believe it will find support from the fans of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.' "
Produced by FX Prods., "Archer" was created by Adam Reed & Floyd County Prods. Reed previously co-created, with Matt Thompson, the animated series "Frisky Dingo" and "Sealab 2021."
