Fox leads summer ratings

Coming off the holiday weekend, Fox continues to lead the summer as the top-rated network, while CBS leads among total viewers and is the only network to post gains versus the same week last year.

Fox (4.2 million viewers, 1.5 average rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic) led the week in the demo, followed by CBS (6.9 million, 1.4), NBC (5.4 million, 1.4) and ABC (3.7 million, 1.1.).

NBC's "America's Got Talent" (13.1 million, 3.7) took the lead Tuesday as the top-rated show, hitting a season high, followed by Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" (7.7 million, 3.0) on Wednesday.

CBS continued to keep pace with competitors while airing mainly repeats. Although "Got Talent" continues to perform, Wednesday's new drama, NBC's "The Philanthropist" (5.7 million, 1.4), fell from its premiere, and Thursday's "The Listener" (3.3 million, 0.9) on CBS continued to struggle.

ABC matched its all-time low adult-demo weekly number even as "The Bachelorette" (7.9 million, 2.7) hit a summer high; on Monday's episode, it slipped from that number. Wednesday's "Wipeout" (8 million, 2.7) also continues to perform well.

Original-programming trouble spots for ABC include Tuesday's new show "The Superstars" (4.0 million, 1.3) and "Better Off Ted" (1.8 million, 0.6)

On cable last week, a special episode of "Hannah Montana" on Sunday night was the most-watched show. An enormous 6.9 million viewers tuned in following a "Montana" marathon, with a 12.0 rating among female teens.

On sister network ABC Family, Monday's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" (2.8 million) and the freshman show "Make It or Break It" (1.8 million) are posting strong numbers but have nonetheless declined each episode since their premieres three weeks ago.
