Last-minute Emmy predictions

Emmy statue Check The Live Feed tomorrow morning for THR's Emmy nominations coverage, reactions and analysis ... in the meantime here's some last-minute predictions. Read 'em quick, while they're still relevant!

Best Drama predictions: "House," "Dexter," "Mad Men," "Damages" "24" and "Lost."

Then the howls begin. "Where's 'Battlestar'?" Emmy voters haven't watched the show for years, they didn't start with the final season. "Where's 'The Shield'?" Ridiculously deserving, could surprise, but "Damages" seems more Emmyish. "Where's 'ER'?" Maybe. But is sentiment about its departure really that strong? "Where's 'The Mentalist'?" It's a hit, but if the Hollywood Foreign Press didn't give it a nod, do you think the Academy will? "Where's 'Boston Legal'?" ... OK, so nobody will actually say that, but we hope cooler heads prevail and voters don't pull out their old standard one last time.

Best Comedy predictions: "30 Rock," "Entourage," "The Office," Big Bang Theory," "Two and a Half Men" and "Weeds"

That would mean a first-time nod for "Big Bang" and "Weeds" in this category, with "Big Bang" being the real headline and Chuck Lorre having two nominees in the category. Besides, "Big Bang Theory's" Jim Parsons is reading the noms tomorrow morning -- you think they're dragging the guy out of bed that early for nothing?

The other show to look out for is "Family Guy," which keeps submitting its entry into this pro category, refusing to play ball against the other hand-drawn kids in the animation category. Its "go big or go home" moxie is endearing, and the show is such a huge hit maybe Emmy voters will decide "Family Guy" must be doing something right.

Best Drama Actor predictions: Gabriel Byrne, Bryan Cranston, Michael C. Hall, Jon Hamm, Hugh Laurie, Kiefer Sutherland and James Spader. Yes, I know that's seven. I'm cheating. Six of them will be right.

Best Drama Actress predictions: Glenn Close, Sally Field, Kyra Sedgwick, Anna Paquin, January Junes and Holly Hunter. Mariska Hargitay is the odd woman out here, with Jones landing a spot this time. They can't ignore Paquin after her Globes win.

Best Comedy Actor predictions: Alec Baldwin, Steve Carell, Charlie Sheen, Tony Shalhoub, Jim Parsons and David Duchovny. This would be first-time noms in this category for Parsons and Duchovny, if so.

Best Comedy Actress predictions: Toni Collette, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tina Fey, Mary-Louise Parker and then it gets tricky. "Ugly Betty" has shed so many viewers, but America Ferrera will probably get in. Amy Poehler? "Parks and Recreation" debuted late in the season and is not a critical or viewer hit. Let's say Christina Applegate.
