'Chuck' superpowers to have glitch
How will Chuck's story continue next season now that the Buy More geek has superpowers?
"The Chuck-fu ... he can't just know kung fu all the time, otherwise his handlers are obsolete," says star Zachary Levi. "So our very talented and wise creators, they've structured it so the powers have a window, a shelf life, there's a glitch in the system ... I have my powers, but they don't necessarily last -- that's the secret."
"The Chuck story is a story of a hero ... now he has powers, you just don't get that stuff in a day ... it's going to be exciting to see how he learns to use them," says co-creator Chris Fedak.
The "Chuck" team took the stage with the characters Jeff and Lester doing their horribly fun rock duo Jeffster performing "Fat Bottomed Girls." This is the most screaming, intense response I've seen at a TV panel here so far this week (fan video below).
It's a lovefest, naturally, because the show owes its third season pickup to its fans' heavy campaigning to save the show. Co-creator Josh Schwartz gave shout outs to various critics and bloggers that helped earn the show a renewal.
"[We] have the best fans in the world who will go and eat multiple Subway sandwiches." says Levi. "You guys are incredible, I love you so much, thank you so much."
Other hints for next season:
-- "Something very emotional and traumatic will happen between Chuck and Sarah, but it will be really-really good," Schwartz says.
-- "Now that Awesome knows Chuck's secret, you'll see him pulled into a spy role as well, probably not as reluctantly as he should be."
-- WarnerBros. also launched two new "Chuck"-related Web sites -- ChuckTV.net and ChuckMeOut.com.
