ABC announced a premiere date for its acquired "sexy, provocative space thriller" "Defying Gravity." The series starring Ron Livingston and Laura Harris debuts Sunday, Aug. 2, with a two-hour opener. Though the producers' "'Grey's Anatomy' in space" description didn't win the show many genre fans, ABC hopes this Canadian/German co-prod will sway the net's soap fans to a sci-fi show. (One rep says there is indeed zero-gravity sex in the series, but they might be pulling my chain). "Gravity" will have a two-hour premiere, then settle into its 10 p.m. time period.
