Bravo's 'Housewives' rocks; TNT premieres disappoint
Those fighting New Jersey housewives gave Bravo some knockout ratings Tuesday night.
The "Real Housewives of New Jersey" (3.5 million viewers, 1.9 adults 18-49 rating) was the highest-rated season finale for the network's entire "Housewives" franchise to date. "Housewives" was higher rated than any show on cable or broadcast last night.
The episode featured a table-flipping brawl that the network plans to re-cut into an extended version (video clip below).
While over on TNT, the network fired its second round of summer premieres with reality show "Wedding Day," new Jada Pinkett Smith drama "Hawthorne" and the return of "Saving Grace."
Mark Burnett's "Wedding Day" (850,000, 0.3), billed as TNT's first reality show, utterly crashed.
Hospital show "Hawthorne" (technically titled "HawthRNe" -- really?) (3.8 million, 1.2) was soft for a new TNT drama, outperforming January's "Trust Me" debut, but performing below last summer's "Raising the Bar" and "Leverage" premieres.
Still, "Hawthorne" was the most-watched show on cable Tuesday night, and that's always good for something. The drama also pulled more viewers than last week's "Raising the Bar" second season premiere and that had a "Closer" lead in.
While the third season opener of "Saving Grace" (3.5 million, 0.9), lacking a "Closer" lead-in this time, fell 25% in the demo and was the fifth most-watched show on cable.
