Leno's last 'Tonight Show' delivers record ratings

Jay leno final Last night's final telecast of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" had the show's highest overnight household rating for a Friday episode in the comedian's 17-year run as host of "Tonight."

The May 29 "Tonight" averaged an 8.8 rating in metered-market households. That's 126% over Leno's 3.9 average for the second quarter to date and the best rating for the talk-show on any night since March 19 when President Obama was a guest on the show.

The Leno gain helped the rest of NBC's late-night lineup, with "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (3.8) having its second-highest overnight rating ever and "Last Call with Carson Daly" (1.6) had its best Friday in more than two years.
