'Rescue Me' debut doesn't need saving

RM_20080617_042 The fifth season of FX's Rescue Me got off to a fine start Tuesday night, pulling down 2.3 million viewers and 1.5 million adults 18-49.

That's down 18% among total viewers and 16% in the demo compared to last June's Season 4 opener, when the show faced less competition.

Rescue was basic cable's highest-rated original telecast for the entire day in the demo. FX noted that an encore episode added another 914,000 viewers.
