Video: 'Lost' goes warp speed in new 'Star Trek' ad

The most unexpected thing about last night's Lost wasn't the shocker ending, but ABC mind-melding the show's iconic title card with an exclusive clip for Star Trek. There's so many eye-rolling examples of advertiser integration on TV, this was a clever way to keep viewers from fast-forwarding. Here's the Lost-to-Trek transition, plus ABC's exclusive scene -- Kirk being chased by big monster -- from Trek.

Digg It

Convincing the producers to alter their title card should have been an easy conversation, with Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams directing Trek and showrunner Damon Lindelof co-writing it. Bonus points for the Lost/Trek ad managing to reference two classic TV opening credits: making the Lost title card look even more like its Twilight Zone inspiration and playing off the Trek original series credits where the Enterprise rushes out of a star field.
