'Damages' finale takes a hit

D-208_approvals_2894 The second-season finale of FX's "Damages" was notably lower than its first-season closer.

Wednesday night's "Damages" pulled 1 million viewers, 500,000 of which were adults 18-49. That's down 32% in the demo from last season; though, as one would expect, the finale was above average (by 11%) compared with its overall average.

FX ordered a second and third season at the same time back in '07, so the show is considered safe even with the dropoff.

Dang. Thankfully a 3rd season is already locked and loaded. If nothing else, 'Damages' brings an element of prestige to the FX Network, what with the show's multiple Emmy/Golden Globe nods.

I think FX needs to rethink their advertising campaign for 'Damages.' The commercials make it look like some sort of sophisticated, cerebral mind game. It feels like it would be too intimidating, too much of a commitment. In reality, it's only slightly cerebral, and a lot more thrilling and fun than they lead on. I think they should emphasize the intrigue and the "WHOAOMGWTF" plot-twist aspects of the show. That is what makes 'Damages' so addicting anyway.

Disappointed by the season finale, but I thought there were some standout episodes from season 2…just enough to keep me coming back for next year. I blogged about one of them, “London, of Course” here :

Does anybody know where i can find video clips from this episode? I’d like to put one in my blog posting but can’t find it anywhere. Thanks!
