'Hills' star inks deal with Mark Burnett

Audrina_dec20085321 "The Hills" has lost another resident.

Audrina Patridge is leaving the show after its upcoming fifth season, exiting MTV's popular soap for a new deal with Mark Burnett Prods.

Burnett's proposed new series will follow Patridge's personal and professional life. The show will be pitched to networks starting next week.

"We are truly pleased to have the chance to work with Audrina," Burnett said. "She has already proved her star quality, and we can't wait to show her fans worldwide the next stage of her life and career."

Patridge's exit follows the recent announcement that "Hills" star Lauren Conrad is likewise leaving the series. With "Hills" performers' contracts up and Conrad and Patridge out, there's speculation that MTV will either end the show after next season or at least give the show's cast and focus a significant shake-up.

"We cannot confirm a sixth season at this time," an MTV spokesperson said when asked about Patridge's departure. "However, 'The Hills' will continue as long as there are stories to tell, and as of now we don't see an end in sight."

Without Conrad and Patridge, "The Hills" is just not going to be the same show. Perhaps instead of doing a Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt spinoff, as long discussed, perhaps the couple will take over "The Hills" brand. Given the show's ratings, MTV is probably reluctant to let the show's title get retired, even without its lead performers. The 10-episode fifth season of "The Hills" premieres March 30.

Burnett will exec produce the new project; Patridge and Gladys Gonzalez are attached as producers. Patridge is repped by APA, Gonzalez of John Carrabino Management and Larry Kopeikin.

Why?? She hasn't done nothing of note, except shop and date. How about chronicling someone who is making a difference in this WORLD...

Just what we need Audrina getting her own show. I though The City was bad enough but really do people need to keep fueling these people's celebrity.

Okay, can we please learn from our mistakes? They already tried to do spin-offs with Brody (Bromance) and Whitney (The City), which both turned out to be total flops! (BTW, who in the hell thought we would want to follow Whitney around, she has all the personality of a piece on lint)

All together, they may have been somewhat entertaining (and whiny) but separately they are all complete train wrecks, so let's stop the madness and move on already!

Audrina isn't even that hot and she has about as much to say as a marshmallow. She is a highly functioning vegetable. More vapid then all of them...

STOP HATING PEOPLE!!! AUDRINA IS A STAR! MARK BURNETT IS GOING TO PRODUCE HER SHOW... IT'S A HIT ALREADY. THE MAN IS A SUPERSTAR IN THAT WORLD. AUDRINA IS RICH, BEAUTIFUL AND FAMOUS AND YOU CAN ONLY DREAM OF THAT LIFE. STOP HATING... BIG HILLS FAN!!!

I don't think it will compare the the City...I disagree completely about it being a "flop"...I feel it is one of the best shows MTV has highlighted in years.

i think her show will be great.i have watched every season of the hills.i would love to see audrina with her own show.i agree though about whitneys show.BORING!audrinas will be much better.

I THINK I JUST GONNA WATCH FOR THE LOVE OF RAY J AND ALL THAT OTHER SHIT!!!!!!!!!! CUZ WITHOUT LAUREN ITS NOT THE HILLS.......PERIOD

I think most folks will mirror my sentiments (http://squareeyes.blinkx.com/?p=455) in saying this is gonna be boring as hell. I can't think of anything more snoozy than Audrina doing things. Daily life things, fun things, any things.

This is the first time in my life I've missed Heidi and Spencer.

is the show about dumb dysfunctional women?

She is the best, I love her, Great idea so many fans LOVE that girl.

Audrina is no star she's been made a "celebrity" and I use that term VERY loosely by MTV. She is super annoying and boring...good luck turning that into another reality show. I actually like The Hills and I'm a huge fan of LC...not so much her boring roommates :O( The City was a bad enough decision!!

Shes a super interesting pretty girl. Audrina is gonna give some payback...... I cant wait for the new show..
