Comedy Central gives Daniel Tosh a series

Tosh Comedy Central has given a series to comic Daniel Tosh, who'll host a news show mocking the online world.

"The Internet has become an essential and familiar part of our viewers' lives and it's filled with humor, be it a blog, site or video, that calls out for comedic commentary," said Comedy Central programming president Lauren Corrao. "Daniel is the guy you want offering up opinions on everything around you -- he’s biting, hilarious and so quick."

The 10-episode weekly show, "Tosh.0," is slated to begin production immediately and is scheduled to premiere in June.

”Finally, a television show that steals from the Internet, as opposed to the other way around,” said Tosh.

Some official description and Tosh standup clips below:

The series will go deep into the Web, spinning commentary about blogs and vlogs both popular and obscure, tweets and pokes, popular sites and new technologies.  The series will also feature viral clips of the week, premiere its own original videos created by and starring well-known actors and comedians, as well as highlight a weekly "Viewer's Choice" video chosen from among those uploaded and voted on via Comedy Central's Web site. In addition, each episode will feature the segment "Web Redemption," which will give subjects of infamous viral videos (think Afro Ninja) a second chance to redeem themselves from the embarrassment with which they've become synonymous.

Like the the "Web Redemption" idea -- gives you a chance to mine tired viral clips for new humor and updates the person's story.

Silly people.. There was a show that made fun of the internet.. Internet Slutts. Too bad their sponsors were afraid of possible negative backsplash and pulled out after only a dozen shows.

Where have I seen him before, he looks really familiar like I've seen him in a movie or something..I'm thinking something like Harold & Kumar

I remember Internet Slutts! That show was awesome! Though I'm not surprised it was taken off the air. I mean, when one of the main characters is a penis, there might be a problem.
