CBS wins Sunday; 'Family Guy' tops night
With ABC's top-rated dramas sidelined Sunday night, CBS won the night aided by some NCAA overrun.
After
struggling against some heavy competition such as the Oscars, "The Amazing Race"
(11.7 million, 3.4) has managed to gather some steam in recent weeks. CBS also benefited from "Cold Case" (11.4 million, 2.8) jumping 17% this
week and "The Unit" (9.2 million, 2.8). CBS' evening launched with a strong "60 Minutes"
winning its hour (all these numbers are skewed by the sports overrun and will shift in the nationals).
ABC placed second with a two-hour "Extreme: Makeover Home Edition" (10.8 million, 3.6) doing quite well, followed by a "Desperate Housewives" repeat.
Fox's animation block climbed overall this week with a mix of originals and repeats. "The Simpsons" (6.6 million, 3.1) and "Family Guy" (8.2 million, 4.2) were up compared to recent weeks, with the latter featuring the cast of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and ranking as the top-rated show of the night. "American Dad" (6 million, 3.0) also performed well.
For NBC, "Kings" (4.4 million, 1.3) was on par with last week. "Celebrity Apprentice" (8.5 million, 3.2) climbed slightly for the second week in a row and dominated the 10 p.m. hour.
