'Fringe' is moving to Canada, translated
Here’s a statement from Warner Bros. about the studio’s decision to move the production of Fox's "Fringe" from New York to Vancouver, Canada, plus some clarifying comments in italics.
Statement: "In this challenging and uncertain economic environment"--
You mean the one where “Fringe” is getting huge ratings?
"--we have made the very difficult decision to move the production of ‘Fringe’ from New York to Canada in the event the series is renewed for a second season."
Read: “Fringe” is being renewed for a second season.
"We did not come to this conclusion easily--"
It was tough. We get it.
"--but economic and practical imperatives dictated that this decision be made in a timely manner.”
Read: “Fringe” is definitely being renewed for a second season.
“We are deeply indebted to the talented New York production crew--"
Who are now hitting up their friends who work on "Gossip Girl" for a job.
"--that helped bring the first season of ‘Fringe’ to life, and we thank them for their invaluable contributions--"
Not literally invaluable, of course.
"-- to the show’s success.”

"Fringe" shooting in Vancouver. Now if the show would just hire David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to replace its paranormal-investigating FBI agents, “X-Files” fans would be set.
Here’s EW’s more straight-faced report, whereby some sources, we’ll call them Warner Bros., point to New York’s possible expiration of tax incentives. C’mon Big Apple, pony up; action-show fans can only handle so many Vancouver-based shows, all those rainy gray-sky/green-tree exterior shots get wearisome.
