Fox's 'Dollhouse,' 'Terminator' grindhouse trailer

This is, no fooling, a fantastic promo.

The 1970s thing has been done before, sure. ABC recently tried something weakly similar for a "Life on Mars" ad. But with Fox trying to carve out a male-niche audience for "Terminator" and "Dollhouse" on low-traffic Friday nights, this highly watchable trailer packaging the shows as a grindhouse-style double feature just floors it -- embracing camp to an impressive degree for a broadcast network ("doo-blay your pleasure!").

Check out the trailer below (might take a moment to load).

Hmm, a "D-girl" reference ... one can't help but flash to Ben Silverman's calling Fox's Kevin Reilly a "D-girl" ... but, surely, just a coincidence.

Add Starbuck/Katee Sackhoff, and a few olives, stir. Serve chilled on Friday nights.

Awesome.

thats a bad ass commercial!

well summer's next to a joss whedon show now

T.T firefly T.T

I really liked this promo, but it's definetly a split decision among hardcore T:SCC fans.

OMGosh dude that is the funnies thing I hav ever seen!

wow that was a pretty gay comment

Kinda harsh don't ya think? Especially when you see all the praise from major media companies that ProgGrrl gets for his/her blog.
Personally, ProgGrrl's comment pretty much sums up my friday night. Terminator, Dollhouse, BSG. What more can you ask for?

Yo quiero esta Fox Fridays promo! And I completely agree with ProgGrrl.

In some people's eyes, Fox can't do anything right. If they don't promote it, they're bad. If they do promote it, they're not doing it right.

I say kudos to them for creating something campy and fun!

Hyping a sexy, sleek, overproduced SFX orgy by hearkening to the ramen-fueled days of yore when they honestly couldn't afford any better?

Isn't this like taking my keys, scratching the heck outta my 60" HDTV screen, smearing poo on it and kicking back to watch?

Maybe I just don't "get it"...

Just because he/she may be popular doesn't change the fact that what they said was pretty dumb. I'm not trying to hate or anything, just stating when I first scrolled down to see comments, I thought "wow this is really gay," and I have no idea who ProgGrrl is.

Plz objectify me moar, FOX, moar!

Is FOX trying to drive away female viewers? DOLLHOUSE's premise - a female meat-puppet pimped out to fulfill male fantasies - is a pretty iffy sell for women anyway so FOX decides to release a promo that highlights what? Oh, yeah - T&A and girls in the shower. They may as well gift-wrap Fridays at nine for CBS with that ad.

Obviously not

if you stop watching crap there would no longer be a need to argue about commercials.

sht up you dick!
yure worse thn hitler
why the f do you com herejust to make fun of wat you dont get
fkking dick!

Gay? Well if you're a kick-ass grrl like myself, I suppose that's ... a compliment?

Whatever, dude.

Really love that you guys use my sexual orientation as a synonym for dumb. Are you that limited that you can't make a comment without offending an entire segment of the population that has nothing to do with this thread?

I used to go to double features back when I was a homeless rodeo clown but not any more. Now I am a world class magician !

if you stop watching crap there would no longer be a need to argue about commercials..

wow that was a pretty gay comment

sex sells, its a joke about 70s advertising, women aren't the target audience in the first place.

go die in a fire

I'm a girl... and I'm not gay. And if you ask me those commercials are awesome! And make me want to watch the shows more... they are funny, and you have to understand that sex sells!

Also just because a show has bad ratings doesn't make it bad, it just makes it something not everyone can enjoy! Not everyone can enjoy BSG (I can't), but you have no right saying that it's crap!
And btw Joss Whedon does not make crap, he makes the best TV there is.
