The People's Choice Awards are fixed

Everybody's a winner! Favorite TV Drama: House

[It's also one of the most-watched dramas on TV]

Favorite TV Comedy: Two and a Half Men

[Easily the most-watched comedy on TV]

Favorite Animated Comedy: The Simpsons

[The most-watched animated show on TV]

Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show: Heroes

[The most-watched ... OK, well, once "Lost" comes back, it probably won't be, but is sure was in the fall. And big competition for the "Fantasy" half of that category. Has somebody brought back "Xena"?]

Favorite Competition/Reality Show: Dancing With the Stars

['Idol' beats it, but like with the midseason "Lost," this is what the general population will pick when you ask them to vote in November. It's the most-watched reality competition that airs during the fall]

Favorite Game Show: Deal or No Deal

[You mean, of the four of them? "Deal" was the second most-watched]

Favorite Male TV Star: Hugh Laurie

[In other words: Is there a point, to having the public vote for the People's Choice when there are TV ratings that show which shows are the People's Choice? These picks correspond closely with what tops the Nielsen's most-watched list. Likewise, People's Choice Awards favorite movie? "The Dark Knight." Yes, I recognize the promotional, business and entertainment value behind throwing the awards. And, sure, I realize my whole point is pretty obvious. I'm just being a curmudgeon.]

Favorite Female TV Star: Christina Applegate

[Yeah, well, People magazine voters]

Favorite Talk Show Host: Ellen Degeneres

[Oprah, the tide has turned]

Favorite Scene-Stealing Guest Star: Robin Williams on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

[You have got be f--king kidding me]

Favorite TV Drama Diva: Kyra Sedgwick as Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson on The Closer

[Isn't she that person who walks across the TV screen while I'm trying to watch the hobbits?]

Favorite New TV comedy: Gary Unmarried

[You mean most-watched new comedy]

Favorite new TV drama: The Mentalist

[You mean the most ... you get the point]

So weird that the shows watched by the most people are voted on by the most people! Doesn't it make sense, that people who watch shows will vote for them and that the most watched shows get the most votes?

Fixed? C'mon... I know they're just the PCAs but that doesn't mean we can't use common sense.

I agree with you. I really don't see the point of awards that pretty much go along with television ratings. What's the point of an award show if you know who the winners will most likely be anyway. Combine that with the fact that there were so many snubs (Lost in particular) and it should come as no surprise that I have never cared for the People's Choice Awards and haven't watched them in years.

Besides ratings, all you had to do was look into the audience to see who the winner was going to be. The only celeb in the audience that didn't win something was Paris Hilton.

Heroes? Two and a Half Men? Dancing with the Stars? Heroes sucked this year and the other shows are horrible. People will watch anything these days unless it is quality programming like Pushing Daisies.

I should have known this show was going to suck when there was no red carpet coverage on E! or TV Guide Channel. Obviously, it is very middle America and thus not friendly to the gays and independent women who like the red carpet. Queen Latifah looked a little nervous up in there with all them rednecks.
