'Nip/Tuck' premiere a cut above

NT_TVBookCover_10.15.07_0018 Tuesday’s return of FX's surgical drama "Nip/Tuck" clocked a hearty 3.1 million total viewers and 2.4 million adults 18-49.

The premiere launches the second half of the fifth season with a 6% increase on the season-to-date average in the adult demo and a steep 41% bump from last January's post-holiday return. The show was the top-rated adult demo program on cable Tuesday night.

For the full 15-episode season, "Tuck" is averaging 3.5 million viewers (down 10% from season four) and 2.7 million adults 18-49 (down 3%).

Good for "Nip/Tuck." Though I found the premiere to be pretty dull personally. The show jumped the shark long ago, but I think that's why most people are still watching: what ridiculous antics will the show be up to next? What will be interesting is how "Damages" fares tonight.

By the way, fantastic work recently on the blog, Mr. Hibberd! Way to diversify the postings a little. It'd be great to see more cable ratings data, since cable shows are becoming exponentially more relevant each year.

Yup, trying to have more cable. Will be cable-stuffed over the next few days due to TCA. Thanks for reading.
