CBS tops Wednesday with 'People's Choice'
CBS led a modest Wednesday night in the ratings lined with specials and repeats. CBS aired "The People's Choice Awards" (9.3 million viewers, 2.9 preliminary adults 18-49 rating and an 8 share), which were down 17% from 2007, yet up 44% from last year's program, which was affected by the writers strike (the show's TV category results and comment here). Comedy repeats served as lead-in.
ABC and NBC tied for second, with highlights including ABC's "Barbara Walters Special -- Patrick Swayze: The Truth" ranking as the night's highest-rated show (12.6 million, 3.0/8) and tying NBC's "Law & Order" (10.1 million, 3.0/8) as the highest rated. "Order" also matched its season high.
Fox was third with repeats followed by the CW, which premiered horror-reality show "13: Fear Is Real" (2.4 million, 1.1/3) to numbers on par with "Stylista."
