Sarah Palin's scary new 'SNL' appearance

The black outfit. The burgundy chair. Threats-as-jokes. Sure, we get it. Sarah Palin, on Monday night's "Saturday Night Live: Presidential Bash," played off her recent comment that the media violates the First Amendment by criticizing her. So why isn't the audience laughing?

"The Palin Doctrine"? ... Way to freak out voters on the eve of the election.

And here's John McCain's new video. He's comes off more likable than Palin, yet his script is weirdly NBC-centric (hey look, Marc Graboff!). It's like one of those scripts that celebrities are pressued to read for radio stations, or like something written for the May advertiser upfronts. NBC has been increasingly self-referential lately. But jokes about NBC disappearing amid the broadcaster's low ratings and budget cuts are just not funny.

I wasn't too sanguine about this skit. What were they thinking? Politicians shouldnt joke about such things. It just makes too many of us wonder.

Has it ever occurred to you that the staff of SNL actually write these things for the candidates??? Think about it... you're just another part of the biased liberal media.

You know those awful, uncomfortable moments where someone's telling a joke that's painfully close to the truth and plays on your worst fears? That's what the Palin fireside chat skit was like. A dark part of you, given Bush's abuse of executive power over the past 8 years (Gonzalez abuse of power, Gitmo, advent of torture and preemptive strike as US policy), could see Palin continuing that further - censorship of US media, her Alaska vengeful paybacks writ large on the national stage.

Kind of weird - for me, SNL played on my fears of a McCain-Palin White House with such expertise I definitely am volunteering at an Obama phone bank today!

Blaming the "biased liberal media" again? She obviously agreed to do the skit & thought it would be funny. No one put a gun to her head. She's just a dumb, attention whore. She'll get a talk show on Fox News for millions and make $75,000 a pop on the speech circuit. So much for being little miss average folk.

I agree, its all about the money and the biz for Palin. These are grown folks, not children, but adults acting out their teenage dreams...ooh I want to be rich, with a big house, and lots of people looking at how beautiful and popular I am. What's said is this...the adults voting for these two fools...there is nothing serious about either of them...they take their voters for granted by making fun of serious situations...course joking...on top of hoping their voters remain ignorant by believing every word that comes out of their mouths. They could give less than a damn about the future of your children, your personal financial state, nor your future in your golden years. A bimbo and a liar both banking (literally) off of their voters ignorance. Palin and McCain talk big and think very little of you (teacher, student, farmer, Blacks, Hispanics, Jews, Italians, Asians, middle America, elderly, children and every one outside the box of who they believe are true Americans). Another publicity stunt and the joke is on their voters.

Black people are voting for a black president no matter what he stands for. Right now the Black Panthers are guarding the polls in OH and PA and not letting the republicans in to vote. Ohio is doing something, but PA because they have a black mayor is letting this happen. Go figure......

THIS was supposed to be comedic. What isn't is the 300 plus electoral college votes Sen. Obama will have...soon! Thank goodness.
I hope everyone voted...be well...
