Charts: Top shows and networks

Here are the top-rated regular entertainment series so far this season (first seven weeks). This is pretty much what you'd expect. Unfortunately, no new shows breaking into the upper stratosphere. The chart doesn't include sports, political coverage and SNL specials, all of which were heavy performers.

Net Show A18-49 Viewers
ABC Grey's Anatomy 6.2 16.1 million
CBS CSI 5.6 20 million
CBS Two and a Half Men 4.9 13.8 million
Fox House 4.9 12 million
NBC The Office 4.6 8.9 million
Fox Family Guy 4.5 9 million
ABC Desperate Housewives 4.4 18.9 million
Fox The Simpsons 4.4 9.1 million
ABC Dancing With the Stars (M) 4.4 18.9 million
NBC Heroes 4.4 9.1 million

And here's how the networks have fared, compared to the same period last year. Despite all the daily ups and downs; the boastful headlines for CBS and dire ones for NBC, the major networks average out pretty similar, huh? Again, sports and specials come into play. Fox's average compared to last year took a heavy hit due to a lackluster-rated World Series, while NBC was aided by NFL and SNL primetime specials.

Net A 18-49 Viewers % Change
ABC 3.1 10.2 million   -16%
CBS 3.0 11 million   -6%
NBC 2.9 7.7 million   -9%
Fox 2.8 7.8 million   -18%
The CW 1 2.3 million   -17%
