ABC sets 'Lost' fifth season premiere date

Lost_ben_2 "Lost" is coming back, and sooner than you might think.

Sources say ABC is scheduling a two-hour premiere for the fifth season debut of the Emmy-winning thriller on Wednesday, Jan. 21. The premiere will be preceded by a one-hour clip show (so three hours of "Lost" total).

That means "Lost" is returning to its Wednesday-at-9 p.m. time period. The most recent fourth season aired on Thursdays -- first at 9 p.m., then shifting to 10 p.m. after "Grey's Anatomy" returned to air following the writers strike. The new premiere date is also slightly earlier than last season.

ABC has lined up 17 episodes for 2009, which is one hour more than the show's now-standard 16-episode tally. The network added an extra hour to compensate for last year, which was cut short due to the strike. Also, yesterday THR reported that Reiko Aylesworth is in negotiations for a major recurring role on the show.

The recently picked up "Private Practice" is currently in the same slot and there's no word yet where it will go once "Lost"returns.

How can the picture be from season 5 if Michael is still there? -- [[[Wrong photo was sent and "Lost" photo dept. says new art not ready yet after all, replaced with Ben-- JH]]]

guesses are scrubs/the goode family go to the 8, and a new drama goes 10 on wednesday (if i recall abc greenlit a lot of shows for midseason, so something has to be ready).

private practice goes to thursdays at 10.

dsm and daisies go away and never come back, a fate they deserved better than.

No way dude, you got to be jkidding me. Are you for real?

Just let me know when the DVDs come out. :]

word. Can't wait to get lost in the world of LOST.

Something tells me they'll answer even less of questions that we want to know, and just raise more questions that will never get answered.

My favorite part of Season 4 is when Locke turns to Ben and asks him what the hell is going on (it's basically the voice of the viewer at this point). What I don't like is how they never answer that question, no answer was given - not even a witty comeback like "it means what it means", not even an answer in the form of a question "The island is what you want it to be, or is it?"

I'm getting tired of Lost, the second season pulled me in but no progress has been made since then.

F A B U L O U S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is great news!
Very unusual ideas in this series
that make me stick to the tube.
Thanks for the info from tony

Ah 3 months isn't that bad, can't wait. But I think I've forgotten most of season 4, if it wasn't for Dexter and Prison Break I'd rewatch them.

Btw: Dexter is a brilliant show, download it trust me.

Sooner than you might think??

Last update I got was the first week of January. Don't know how accurate that was at the time, but its GREAT to know we have to wait even longer. Just great!

Yes, there are many viewers who want explanations to answer the millions of questions the show raises. It would be good if major unresolved matters got convincing reasons as to why they occured and we had a better idiea as to what is really actually happening on mystery freakin island. Some new mysteries along the way to keep the suspense till the end of season 6 would be great too.

Im really glad Lost is returning to the Wednesday 9 time slot, really looking forward to the show's return.

Oh my, I'd almost forgotten about Lost. I'll need a recap of what's going on for sure.

The only network TV shows I watch are " LOST" and " Pushing daisies" I'm sad about Daisies being cancelled, But at least I have " Lost"

Time for a LOST anagram, so you must find a SLOT for it in your schedule.

Please stop &#*ing with the time slot! Leave it at 9!

my one and only question is the following: What the hell was that polar bear doing on the island that Swayer shot?...
That was the one and only time I actually wondered: What is this whole mystery of the island about. As for DHARMA I lost interest after Locke got stuck in the door and saw all those signs (Looked like Zodiac signs to me, and if Mr Locke is really dead like the other one nice looking Asian man (Can't remember his name)then I' indeed LOST. Good night.

My guess about the polar bear is...
...the Darhma Initiative had an aquarium it used in its studies and the polar bear lived there until Darhma was killed by Ben then it had to survive in the wild.

Lost is my favorite. I live in Turkey and I am fond of it. I have some guesses. I think Jack or Hurley or Christian is just dreaming in the nuthouse. and all the people in this show are in the same nuthouse. (nurses, doctors, workers, mads ...) Polar bear is there that's bacause, i think, the island was moved near the pole before. And polar bear is a part of his life of the person who is dreaming.
