NBC picks up 'Kath & Kim'

Yup, you read it right.

NBC has ordered a full season of Thursday night comedy "Kath & Kim."

Guess last night's fourth episode rising 9% helped boost NBC's confidence in the show. The UMS/Reveille-produced comedy was seen by 5.4 million viewers and received a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49, matching its "My Name Is Earl" lead in. But that's after the first three episodes dropped each week.

"Kath" marks the second comedy picked up for a full season this fall. The first is "Samantha Who?" which ABC picked up earlier today. The "Kath" ratings are not out of bounds for a pickup this season. As previously noted, broadcast networks have recently lowered the bar for for a variety of reasons.

More info about the pickup here.

I'm sorry but Kath and Kim is one of the worst sitcoms every made and it gets a pickup while Pushing Daisies is on the fence? Has NBC lost their mind in the development of their sitcoms? Have they forgotten the success that they reached with shows like Friends, the Cosby show, cheers, seinfeld -- not one single camera series comedy and yet that's all they have and their ratings are no where near the powerhouses of the above mentioned sitcoms.

I am so sad for the leads of this show.

Michelle Nader is ruining their careers.

Nader just doesn't have the right feel for the material.

How does Silverman get away with this stuff? Crusoe is soooo boring, Knight Rider is a big car ad, Christian Slater is just a bad actor, and the word is that Merlin isn't doing well on BBC One.

What's a party boy to do? Well, there's always Elisabeth Murdoch's boat to play on. Ben's basically paying for her fuel with this Kath & Kim back nine order.

I miss Brandon Tartikoff.

Kath & Kim get's a full season. Why?

While the entertaining Thursday shows like "Life on Mars" (ABC) sit in the wings waiting patiently for their network to make a decision and at the same time making their fans nervous. All I can say is if ABC leaves LOM twirling in space and doesn't give the show a back 9 for a full season. I will never watch another ABC show ever again and I mean business.

Joe you're right, I also miss Brandon Tartikoff who was the "Master of NBC Television programming". Unlike the narcissistic loony bins we have to deal with today.

I like Kath & Kim. It ridicules itself. Knight Rider is painful. I love John Higgins. He looks great. I didn't recognize him as the guy Elaine dated with the shaved head, that discovered he was bald.

I love Kath & Kim it embraces the idiocy of America, general craziness, and is great at presenting it and adding some heart... The AU version is funny, but personally I think the US version is better because there is character development.
