Friday ratings: 'Crusoe' set adrift

Crusoe2 Poor NBC, the network just can't catch a break.

The two-hour premiere of "Crusoe" (7.3 million viewers, 1.6 preliminary adults 18-49 rating and 5 share) put NBC in third place Friday night with modest numbers that were below the network's time period's average last year.

The action-adventure program represents the final new title to premiere among NBC's fall lineup, which has yet to generate a break-out hit. "Crusoe" also received mixed reviews from critics. The program did gather ratings steam throughout its two hours, so perhaps next week will demonstrate more spunk.

"Life" (5.9 million, 1.5/5) gained a tenth at 10 p.m. yet still came in last place in the hour.

CBS won the night as usual. "Ghost Whisperer" (8.9 million, 2.5/9) and "Numbers" (8.6 million, 2.1/7) were down slightly and "Ex-List" (6.4 million, 2.0/6) rose a tenth.

In second place, ABC's "Wife Swap" (4.5 million, 1.7/6) increased for the second week in a row and "Supernanny" (5.3 million, 1.8/6) was on par.

Richly deserved bottom rating. A honking turkey of a show with a prefab drool-cup slapped on.

Everybody connected with this gobbler needs to be fired if they aren't already. A blight on TV culture and that's saying something.

Crusoe:something I would expect to find on a kid's cable network, not in primetime on a major network.
if succesful and nbc orders more episodes, the producers would turn it into another "Lost", all kind of nutty episodes, each one more implausible than the oother. But I loved the lush scenery and the flora of the Seychelles Islands. a beautiful travelogue.

I think this show could benifit from an ad campaign like Gossip Girl. When I watched all I could think was:

WTF?

Were it not for all the violence, I would love for my children to watch this show. Way too violent for young children. But a great adventure for folks who are tired of the trash that the networks usually give us. A refreshing change to see honesty, loyalty and old fashioned values portrayed. I will watch again!

Of all the shows on TV this season....Crusoe is a shining spot. I am more then happy to allow my kids to watch this show. Yes there is violence....but is it any worse then what you see on the news.

The Rating's system is antiquated. It needs to be removed and something else in it's place. The current system doesn't take in account of the amount of people that tape or tivo the shows. I know my wife and I do.

Until the ratings system is torn apart then good quality shoes like Crusoe are going to be sent by the wayside.
