'Daisies' creator Fuller on competing against Obama

Asked "Pushing Daisies" creator Bryan Fuller how he feels about airing against the Barack Obama ad Wednesday night -- and potentially receiving a viewership surge by virtue of his show being the only entertainment program on at 8 p.m. among the major broadcast networks.

His reply:

I certainly have hopes and dreams of the Republican party saving our show. But I'm also hopeful there are a vast majority of Democrats that already know who they're voting for and will be voting for 'Daisies' instead of some silly old political ad (vote Obama!).

i'm supporting pushing daises tomorrow night. i'll pass on the obama infomercial.

I'd be watching Pushing Daisies because I enjoy it, but I must say I'm disappointed by the (vote Obama!) comment by Bryan Fuller. My guess is that you make $249k annually??? Sad.

"My guess is that you make $249k annually???"

Don't you mean 149k annually? Try to keep up.

I'll be watching Pushing Daisies, so much more entertaining. I wish them success.

Boo f#§!ing hoo, a famous person expressed their political views.

Also, since when are taxes a bad thing? It's not like they are going straight onto the president's personal bank account..

Pass on the Obama mis-infomercial. If that guy gets in the White House nobody will ever get to keep any money.
The dems will tax us into the ground and Barney Frank will become the Secretary of the Treasury and line his friends with bailout money.
Obama has never kept his campaign promises, except on raising taxes.
Did Fuller really say vote Obama???
Guess I'll have to rent a movie.

Bryan Fuller (now out of the closet) surprisingly didn't make a plug for "No on Proposition 8" (the gay marriage proposition). Tsk, tsk, Bryan. Btw, enjoy your heavy taxation as your wealth is spread to others. I'm amazed how many people support socialism (including Mr. Fuller) within Hollyweird.

Watch "Pushing Daises"? No thank you. If Obama is elected we'll have plenty of that to go around with our personal finances and 401K's once the Socialists get their hands on the wheel. Daisies is all we'll probably have left.
Remember, Daisies are weeds, obnoxious plant growth, much like the Democrat Socialist Party.
To quote the Messiah in his memoirs: "I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists."
All of those have a major chip on their shoulder in defiance of the American culture as founded and fought for by the Judeo Christian Patriots who fled a Monarchist Socialist anti-Protestant Kingdom for a free life and the freedom to worship their own God. Yes, try and remember why and how this country was founded.
During the past 90 years, the immoral have churned up from the bottom of the well nearest hell to advocate the so called "pleasures" of life such as pornography, drugs, crimes against humanity and then run to their defense in the name of Liberty and Freedom. But their definitions of those actions are twisted from the root up. Did you ever read on the dollar bill "In God we Trust"? Do you know why it's there? You probably don't care. And that alone is what is wrong with America, people like the Democrat Socialists don't care about this country's culture at it's very foundation.
So you think the religious are bent? We raise our children to be morally succinct in their decisions and paths in life. Then the Government controlled schools corrupt them into immoral, delinquents misteaching the golden rules and violating the reading, writing, and, arithmetic they should be learning. Replaced instead with nosense like Billy has two Dad's promoting homosexualism in grade school. One reason I will never send my child to public schools.
This chance of America being reduced to a Government owned and run subsidy of the Democrat Socialist Party is causing me and many others I know to consider leaving. Third World Nations culturally based in Catholicism are looking pretty good about now.
Think beyond your own self indulgence and addiction for immediate gratification. Think about the twisted programs that will be spun from a Marxist thinking president, and enabled by the Socialist Democrats in Congress and the Senate. Think of the next few generations that must endure a life of worthlessness contributed by the the Marxist rich elitists and the rest of the population that will be left with droppings from the government to exist on. Think about a politician making your decisions for your and your family. Think about a government hack visiting you at home (and they will) to outline to you why you are living in a style unbefitting your income. Think about that same beaurocrat telling you you can't own the house you do because it is too big for your "NEEDS". Or think about that beaurocrat telling you you live too far from work and your commute is too long you have to work closer to home. Think about the paycut you will take when the government mandates income thresholds. Think about how the income the beaurocrat considers too much and then takes away to give to someone else so they can live equally to you with none of the effort, drive or responsibility you do. Then, think about that free income going into the hands of a drug dealer or corrupt physician to get a medical marijuana card so they don't have to risk jail or arrest to continue to be a worthless member of society. Then, last but not least, think about the "have's" enjoying fine foods and wines driving the big custom cars, living on palatial estates with guards and security (all government paid for)as you sit with your family on the worn and tattered sofa, cold because the government controlled heating oil delivery didn't happen, watching government authorized propaganda on the TV and realize that you are now among the "have not's". How's it feel comrade?

Big freaking whoop. A few weeks ago, a different Pushing Daisies exec went on Craig Ferguson and basically called Sarah Palin a fascist. This guy was seriously unhinged. I

You conservative boobs are all the same. If any of you bothered to read Obama's tax policy outline you'd realise that you're all better off under an Obama administration. The cap is 250,000 for a family. No one else sees taxes go up, regardless of what gaffe-prone Biden might say. Period.

Why not make a legitimate argument about differences between the candidates on Foreign Policy or on Immigration, both issues where McCain actually has the upper hand, rather than trying hopelessly to obfuscate Obama's message. The Socialist/Marxist slandering only serves to highlight your ignorance.

James, Did you bump your head? You are not reading it completely then. You are also not in the know that he has dropped his "phantom income" number from $350K down to $149K. Do you really think that he will abide by that? If he can't get his number right in a 3 week period tells me he simply is not being honest. He has dodged the issues repeatedly with vagueness and $10 words spoken in an eloquent tongue. Much like the scorpion said to the frog; " I won't sting you".
Obama must take from the largest population of tax payers (middle class) to fund the 3 trillion dollars he plans to give the UN to redistribute our wealth across the globe (mainly African nations), and most assuredly the largest giveaway will end up in Nairobi. He can not count on the top 1% to pay that toll, it is technically and functionally impossible to do so. But you just keep thinking he tells the truth. Haven't Biden's frequent slips of the tongue been enough to expose the truths to you? Even his running mate can't keep them secret.
Alas James, follow the rest of the lemmings over the cliff.

Fools! You don't have to worry about TaxoBama unless you buy food, gas, clothes, furniture or anything else from someone making more than $150k or what ever the tax plan is this hour!

It seems the cost is high if you decide to buck Obama and his media group-think.

Ho-hum. These adds are troubling to me - they tell me he has more control of legacy media than is healthy in a democracy.

I wrote recently about how his coronation seems so inevitable. Take a look: http://dare2believe.com/?p=489

You people are all nuts.

Truly.

Anyone who seriously thinks Obama is a "socialist" or a "marxist" has absolutely ZERO understanding of what those terms mean, and are simply stupidly repeating neoconservative talking points. The Bush bank bailout -- that McCain supported -- is more socialist than anything in Obama's platform!

With nothing new to offer the American people and a platform that mirrors the disastrous Bush presidency, all McCain and Palin can do is lie about Obama and his policies to try to frighten Americans into voting GOP and giving us more of the last horrible eight years.

Most of us, however, aren't fooled by it, this time around. We need change, desperately, to return our country to its former greatness, and McCain cannot provide that.

Next week at this time, the American people will have selected and elected Barack Obama as their President. So now, along with getting to the polls and voting next Tuesday, our duties also include supporing, understanding and comforting those who will vote the way of McCain. Allow them their grieving process as they go through the stages of denial, anger (they may stay at this stage for quite a while), bargaining, depression (again, they may also linger at this phase for a prolonged period) until they finally come though it all to acceptance. Please treat these brothers and sisters with kindness and courtesy and never forget that we are all We the People.

Right on! Everyone who cares about this country is going to be voting Obama. It would be insane to reward the GOP with another 4 years after the "job" they've done with the last 8.

And please remember: When you call Barack Obama a "socialist" just because he wants to roll back the Bush tax cuts for the super rich (and that's really the only reasoning they have) - that John McCain was against those very same tax cuts before he was for them. (Yes that's right, he's a flip flopper) --- does that mean McCain is a reformed socialist?

Also please remember that America already has many socialist programs including SOCIAL SECURITY & MEDICARE. So ask yourself: Are McCain & Palin against social security & medicare? Are you?

Think before you vote.

Another 4 years of Republican policies, lies, and distortions are not something this country can afford.

I'm voting for "Pushing Daisies" AND Obama! (Thanks to modern inventions such as the VCR and TiVO, I can enjoy it all... suck it, Republican biatches.)

Gorio, my head's fine, despite your rabidly falsified, plainly stupid statements and wierdly mixed charges. One of my favourites: that in your first post you decry how bad everything is in the US that you're thinking about leaving to go live in a 3rd world nation based in Catholicism, then complain that Obama will be sending all of the nations money to Kenya (one of the largest Catholic nations in Africa). None of your small mindedness stands up to any kind of scrutiny.....

said the actress to the bishop.

Being among that liberal "elite" whose education, hard work, and careers allow us to afford more than a six-pack, I will watch Obama live while recording Pushing Daisies on our elitist DVR. This has the added benefit of enabling me to fast forward though the beer commercials.

Anyone else up for a glass of fine French wine?

Pushing Dasies is a low priority compared to this election and what's going on in this country. ABC and the show's creator ought to be ashamed of themselves for being so selfish as not to air Obama's infomercial. The economy stinks, we are in two wars and all ABC can think about is it's own pocketbook.

Oh, please. Incidentally, ignoring the fact that ABC turned down a million bucks in favor of running their own programming instead of an infomercial, what's wrong with worrying about your own pocketbook when in the midst of a crappy economy. Isn't that what you're worried about?

I'm always puzzled by how angry these anonymous folk on blogs get about higher profile people declaring their political views. I've always wondered why it's okay for these people to spend their days and nights educating the rest of us on why we're wrong, but it's not okay for others to do it. Sarah Palin was asked what makes someone a member of the elite and her answer was the idea that they think they're better than everyone else. Well, newsflash: the conserative blog commenters are officially the media elite. Begin your boycott now.

As for the latest flood of Drudge folks who have made their way here, they can declare that they won't be watching "Pushing Daisies" because of Fuller's political views, but it isn't as if they would have been watching in the first place. I'm guessing that this post was the first time they had ever heard of it, what with it being on up against both Bill O'Reilly and Keith Olbermann. You watch Bill for your talking points and Keith so you'll have something to whine about the following morning. That's the drill.

I'll be watching "Pushing Daisies".

You people are nuts!
Did you get taxed to death under Clinton? NO!
Obama is just going to put the top wage earners back to what they were paying under Clinton.
And from my point of view EVERYONE prospered with Bill Clinton in office than when Bush got elected.
You advocate giving the wealthiest people, who made out like bandits with this Wall Street crises, even more tax breaks.

You seem to forget that when Bush cut taxes all over this nation peoples Property Taxes went sky high to make up for the shortfalls cause by Bush's tax cuts.
My property Tax went up 360% since Bush's Tax Cuts!

So, if you think you got a break with Bush's tax cuts, if you own a home you are actually paying MORE in taxes than you were under Clinton.

The progressive tax system has been in this country for a VERY long time and this is the FIRST time anyone has said that it is Socialism!

Give me a break!

Andrew, do you really actually believe that the show's creator- Bryan Fuller- had anything to do with the decision to run Pushing Daisies on ABC tonight? Are you seriously scolding him in a public forum for something he has absolutely ZERO control over? The only entity that has any decision-making control over when and how the show airs is ABC. Not Bryan Fuller.

And the humor evident in his comments about his "hopes and dreams" of the Republican party tuning in en masse tonight and somehow boosting his low ratings was completely lost on you. Not surprisingly.

I'm really amazed at the plain stupidity of those on the left stating that they're mad at ABC for running Pushing Daisies instead of Obama's message (even though it was Obama who turned ABC down)- which untold millions are going to watch and see regardless, and the even dumber comments by those on the right stating that they're not going to watch Pushing Daisies because Fuller said "Vote Obama!"- as if he doesn't have the American right to express his free opinion? Is everyone really that juvenile and simple-minded?

I have had a bad feeling about this race for awhile. But Obama has gotten cocky. He is now addressing the nation as if he were already President. He's planning out his victory celebration. Some newspapers are even calling the election for him already. But Gallup shows the race within a few points and others have shown it even closer, including the recent TIPP poll that showed McCain within 1.1 points of Obama (and TIPP was the most accurate polling organization in the last election, coming within .3% of predicting the actual Bush vote). Add all of this to the "Bradley effect" and what you get is a recipe for a major upset.

McCain may just have a winning strategy thanks to Obama's and Biden's big mouths.

One final thought, which I forgot, and which I think is too clever to leave out:

It may turn out that the only "redistribution" that Obama is responsible for will be the redistribution of votes from swing voters on election day, from Obama to McCain.

Obama has continued to hide his past in a way that makes LOTS of people uncomfortable, even his supporters. His radical liberal agenda doesn't represent "change" as he says.

Since when is it a change for a liberal to engage in class warfare and want to raise taxes? Since when is it a change for a liberal like Obama to want to bring our brave soldiers home in defeat? Since when is it a change for a liberal like Obama to want to stack the courts with liberal judges to illegally change America by usurping the will of the voters by decisions from unelected federal judges?

Obama doesn't represent "change" except insofar as he would change the failed policies of one administration into the failed liberal policies of the past. America just can't stand that right now. It would be devastating.

By the way, I'm an independent, and I approved this statement! lol

Our country is in the most challenging times in it's history. The policies and wars of the last 8 years have robbed and raped each and every American, and our country itself. As our financial systems dissolve, each day more of the greed, corruption, and disruption becomes evident. What is needed to address this mess changes daily, as the enormity of it becomes more and more obvious.

Your show may get less viewership for a day, but thank God there are more folks than ever interested in this election. We can't wait another minute for real answers, for real change in this country.

Right on Obama! ! ! Well ABC had a chance to boost their ratings and they sat on the pot too long. The Obama show will be better than sitting through a "Daisy" episode anyway, obviously I'm not a "Daisy" fan. Remember we gave the Republicans a chance to fix the U.S. (eight years),with bad results and they wore out their welcome. Now it's time for the Democrats to fix it. If people would get off the "$250K mode" and realize that regardless of what you make, you'll have to still pay taxes. And you you do make that much, learn to invest.

Buzz it up

Hey, McIdiots... While you were busy posting your ignorant comments on Obama's ideas being Socialist, your friend, McCain, went on Larry King and said Obama's not a Socialist. So, now what? You need to hurry and find out what the McCain/Palin BS Express is saying today so you can update your comments.

Well, since McCain admitted on Larry King that even he doesn't really believe Obama is a socialist, the right wingers have been uncharacteristically silent on all the blogs today.

They must be in absolute panic-mode trying to find some new lie to spread about the next President of the United States.

You Dems are nuts. Can't you see that taxing the wealthy reduces the amount of money they can spend on multiple vacation homes and cars and travel abroad. The less they spend, the less can trickle down to the middle class who own the gas stations where they pump their gas or the real estate agents who sell them their homes and travel agents who book their flights. You dittoheads just don't get it, echoing every word Obama says like gospel. Letting the middle class keep more of their income is just plain wrong. George H. W. Bush had it right calling McCain style economics "voodoo." So let some of the McCain magic rain down on me. I'll gladly let the wealthy have my tax cut because that's the American way.

Many of you right wingers posting your nonsense are just plain ignorant rubes. In this age of information, this is astonishing. There is no excuse to spout stupidity like these posts. Wake up, sleepers! The Repuks are playing you like a billion dollar nickelodeon with you paying for the show. Are you all Cassandras? (That is fortune teller - to you ignorant types.)

Bush has borrowed more than all presidents in history combined - and he keeps going, while you guys wring your hands over what may happen.
