E! denies 'Richards' canceled; 'Hills' ratings rebound; 'Jericho' for kids

>> An E! spokesperson denied a flurry of reports that say Denise Richards’ reality show is canceled:

“’Denise Richards: It's Complicated’ has not been canceled. The series has performed well for us and decisions are still being made regarding a second season.”

Make of that what you will. Networks do try to avoid going on the record to continue fueling speculation about the fate of a show they’ve firmly ruled out. Then again, it’s E!, they might just like the drama.

>> Better late than never: ABC renews "Here Come the Newlyweds" for eight episodes.

>> Received this message in my Inbox. Struggling to wrap my brain around it:

“Shelby, a 10-year old girl who created www.jericho4kids.com who has raised money charities [and] helped raise money to send Jericho Season 1 DVD's to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and who has interviewed many actors and music stars was granted an interview with Alex O'Loughlin on Monday, August 25, 2008. During the interview Alex said he thinks 'Moonlight' would make a good movie."

Now ... wha-- okay. Let's ... let's. Okay. First ...  there's a "Jericho For Kids" Web site? Well, it's homepage is ... interesting. Not a nuclear explosion drawn in crayons ... but ... still actually combines a kiddie style and "Jericho." The tagline: "Where kids and 'Jericho' meet." Second, the site is sending "Jericho" DVDs to troops in Iraq? I don't ... really? Third, the kid just interviewed Alex O'Loughlin for the site? Okay, O'Loughlin has ... absolutely nothing to do with "Jericho," but ... that's pretty darn impressive none the less (I've written a half dozen posts on "Moonlight" and never interviewed O'Loughlin). And Shelby, it should be noted, asks better questions than some TV critics. Seems O'Loughlin wanted to be a fighter pilot when he grew up.

>> Janeane Garofalo reads a “Hills” episode, the result: “Lauren simply comes off as a leech, her neediness sucking her victims dry until they've got nothing left to give.” While on the subject, “Hills” ratings bounced back this week (2.2/6), up 10% from its premiere now that its out from under the Olympics.

>> If "Deal or No Deal" fared best in viewer recall from Olympics ads, yet only scored a 12% boost in the ratings Monday, what does that mean for the rest of NBC's fall lineup?

>> For those who checked out my NBC’s Olympic lessons story, USA Today’s Robert Bianco has a list of his own. Also, when adjusted for population, NBC’s most-viewed boast is slightly less impressive

>> Josh Schwartz looks at the CW’s billboards all over town for “Gossip Girl” and sees more backhand than compliment

>>  For those who missed this post (went up Saturday, quickly got buried), here’s a first look at eight episodes of the final season of “The Shield”

>> TV portrays a lot of rich people

>> Here’s new “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi hosting knock-off "The One: Making of a Music Star”

>> RE: Michelle Rodriguez’s one-episode return to “Lost”

>> That video of a Fox News reporter overrun in the streets of Denver

Hey James, the common link betwen Jericho and Moonlight is the cancellation of the shows seen as unwarranted by both groups. The phrase you're looking for is 'Moonrangers'. The fandoms have bonded together with their distrust of the ratings system and the nasty comments made by Nina Tassler of CBS towards the ardent fans. There is a vocal and growing group of fans of cancelled shows out there using the web to vent. And on a more pleasant note...Wasn't Alex nice with Shelby? Very cute.

James, sweetie, maybe you SHOULD interview Alex O'Loughlin. He's interesting, funny, and thoughtful in an interview, and his many fans would love you for it. But we'd have to see if YOU could do as well as 10-year-old Shelby did...I think she may be stiff competition, so watch your back!

Mr Hibberd

The point of Shelby's blog and website is simply that Jericho is about Community, a sense of true belonging and the art of working together for a common good. This is a very big part of what the TV show stood for for the fans. Shelby brings us together for a common good as well as to have some great fun ( yes we adults love the site as well) and to be able to read and listen to some fantastic interviews.
:-) Thank you for checking Miss Shelby's Interview and site out, and keep an eye on this website and blog because BIG things always happen on Jericho4Kids.com

James, you don't know who 10 Year Old Shelby is? OMG! You need to do your research; you will love her as much as we do.

Shelby is Awesome. Yes, she and her brother Zac have held raffles and collected funds which they donated to send Season 1 - and again for Season 2 - DVDs to the troops. They have connected with a middle school class in Boca Raton who also raised funds for DVDs for the troops (I think the amount was about $500) and since school started again last week, have already raised another $200 for the cause.

Shelby has interviewed several of the cast, crew, producers and writers of Jericho and her fame has spread so when she asked for an interview with Alex, because our communities support one another, Alex knew who Shelby was and said YES.

Remember the name SHELBY because you have not heard the last of her! I am proud to call Shelby and Zac my friends. They are awesome people.

James,

Shelby is our most desdicated Ranger, bar none. She has done so much over the last year to promote Jericho as well as Moonlight.
her list of interviews is very impressive and includes,
Carol Barbee herself,
D.B. Sweeney
Esai Morales and so on.

She s got rporters who do this for a living beat!
my hats off to her and her family for doing all they have done!

Isn't 10-year old Shelby the greatest? As you stated, you've written several articles yourself about Alex and never interviewed him. I guess she's got one up on you, huh?

Another thing you are so absolutely correct on...Shelby does ask better questions than some TV critics.

Jericho and Moonlight fans are uniting to become "viewers with voices".

I suggest you do some digging and research and you will discover a revolution.

James, I was completely impressed with Shelby's interview with Alex. Not only for her questions but she wasn't intimidated at all by whom she was talking too...not like all the other female interviewers I've listened too or seen on E, TVGuide, etc.....who did nothing but spit on themselves and giggle and acted like teenagers.

When my generation looks at the youth coming up its children like Shelby as well as her brother Zac that convince me our future is in good hands. The humanitarian efforts that this young lady and young man have wrapped themselves around (due in part to the family values they picked up as Jericho fans) is inspiring.

I am in awe of the relationships Shelby has been able to not only make, but maintain, with cast and crew of television shows, it speaks volumes to her character.

Mom and Dad are no doubt pretty darn pround and sure as heck should be. These are talented, good hearted children, and I applaud them.

James,

Thanks for giving our Shelby a mention. She seems to have the right connections and has clearly gained the respect of many in Hollywood. Her giving nature and kind heart inspire me!
Perhaps it is her turn to be interviewed? "The 10 year old girl that captured the hearts of the Jericho and Moonlight fans (and cast and crew)".

Love that girl,

JandMFan

Shelby was fantastic in her interview. She actually asked questions and listened to the answers and did not interject her own opinion. Many other interviews could not have topped her.

Shelby did a fantastic job interviewing Alex O'Loughlin. It was a fun, interesting Q&A session and Alex treated her with the utmost respect. She will go far in whatever field she chooses since she seems to have a good grasp on maturity already. Nice job, Shelby!

Shelby conducted an amazing interview with Alex! She handled herself with professionalism, she kept the focus on him and she interjected just enough. It was a joy listening to both of them! She's no doubt got a bright future ahead of her!

Thanks for the mention James!

Shelby did an excellent interview with Alex. I enjoyed every minute. She has a great future as a journalist!

I listened to Shelby's interview and she was just brilliant. She is going to go far. She had Alex wrapped around her little finger in seconds. And just hearing his sexy voice was an added bonus.

I wish I'd been as articulate and mature as Shelby when I was 10. That little girl is amazing, and her interview with Alex was absolutely wonderful.

Shelby did a bang-up job at interviewing Alex, and I was very impressed at the level of professionalism and clear-headedness this little girl showed.

I look forward to seeing Ms Shelby excel in whatever she chooses to do with her life. I'm hoping it involves journalism, as she has already shown a strong affinity for it.

Shelby did an amazing job interviewing Alex O'Loughlin. She got more info out him than all other interviews combined. They seemed to hit it off. And she let HIM do all the talking. What a bright little girl.

Dear Mr Hibberd,

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the recent interview conducted by the Charming Shelby, -with Alex O'loughlin.
Clear, Concise, Fun and Informative. Shelby was totally professional, and Alex responded so warmly to her.
Marvellous interview, listened to 5 times already, and Bookmarked to Favourites for future indulgence!

This was a very professional, intelligently thought out interview, and I learned more about Alex O'Loughlin here than from many "adult" interviews past. She brought out a relaxed and happy Alex in his answers; both of them were charming to listen to and I wish more reporters would take a page from Shelby's book of courtesy and interest.

A big CHEER to Shelby and her impressive interview with Alex O'Loughlin.
I have to say that she did the best, non-complicated/informative, interview that I have ever heard with Alex.
She's a natural! Keep it up Shelby!

I agree with you, Mr. Hibberd, Shelby's interview was quite comfortable and natural & Alex appeared just as comfortable with this young woman. She did a wonderful job threading her questions, especially the hard questions, like the fighter pilot...who knew. She has a bright future. And, Alex was, soooooooooooo on!!!
