Woof! CBS' 'American Dog' ratings

Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" topped the ratings even though the reality competition series fell to its second lowest-rated Thursday yet.

“Dance” (8.2 million viewers, 2.7 preliminary adults 18 to 49 rating and an 8 share) led the evening, with “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” opening (7.4 million, 1.7/6).

Second-place CBS’ “Greatest American Dog” (7 million, 1.6/6) also suffered a ratings decline, the reality show dropped a precarious 24% from last week's premiere. After a 9 p.m. repeat, CBS aired a modestly rated edition of “Swingtown” (6 million, 1.6/5).

In third, NBC aired an on par two-hour “Last Comic Standing” (4.5 million, 1.9/6) and a series-low “Fear Itself” (3 million, 1.0/3)

Fourth-place ABC’s “Hopkins” (6 million, 1.8/5) enjoyed an unexpected ratings bump. The fourth episode of the medical documentary rose 20% from last week to post its biggest demo number yet. ABC also aired repeats.

On cable: Week two of USA's "Burn Notice" (1.6/5) fell 11% but still topped all of cable.
